The George W. Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) is part of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), a premier public university founded in 1927 in the center of Arkansas. UALR founded the EIT in 1999 to prepare students to meet the specific job skill needs of the area’s growing hightech business community.
In 2010 UALR completed a six-floor facility for the EIT using green building technology. The building serves approximately 1,000 students from all over the state and country and from 38 different countries around the world. More than 50% of those enrolled in the college are first-generation college students.
Since the part of the EIT’s mission is to educate the next generation of engineers, it was fitting for the building team to use cutting-edge, green building strategies and work towards Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
