Webinar Description
First data was the new oil, then, the lifeblood of the organization: neither is a good analogy. Data is simply the tangible representation or information, no more, no less. Of course, it helps if data is a faithful representation of the information and the purpose of data governance policies is to ensure that it is.
Governance is a framework of authority and accountability where a particular group is given the right to make policies and the right to enforce them. Governance empowers by defining delegated limits of authority and establishing effective escalation routes for requesting waivers and resolving issues.
Data governance defines and controls how data is collected, stored, and used within an organization. Good data governance enhances the value of data by providing evidence that data is well managed and can be trusted.
In this one-hour webinar, Peter Benson will be covering the simple, basic steps needed to create data governance policies that are the foundation of all data governance programs. Peter will also introduce ISO 8000-51 the proposed international standard for formatting data governance policies.
