Call for participation in the design and development of an open classification for services
Twenty-two years ago, ECCMA led the design and development of the UNSPSC as an open “commodity” classification to improve buyer’s ability to categorize purchasing card transactions and rationalize suppliers. The success of the UNSPSC is largely due to Amex, VISA, and MasterCard as well as large corporate buyers who were successful in persuading suppliers to add the UNSPSC to their product catalogs and invoices.
Today, services have become the dominant “commodity” and ECCMA has spent several years working with its members on developing structured descriptions that allow services to be competitively purchased. ECCMA is leveraging this work in creating eSAC, a new spend analysis classification and terminology specifically designed for services.
If you have a service classification or service terminology and you would like to contribute to the development of eSAC as an open classification for services, please contact Sheron Koshy (sheron.koshy@eccma.org), leader of the eSAC project.
